Robert "Wolfman" Bratcher

Robert “Wolfman” Bratcher was born in Louisville KY in 1962 and now resides in Southern Indiana. Bob has 3 degrees, one in Natural Sciences and 2 in Nursing and currently works as a Registered Nurse and Certified Specialist in Poison Information. Before working in the medical field Bob worked as a chemist and did research in the biological sciences with wolves, thus his Indian name of Wolfman.

Married for more than 26 years he and his wife Laura celebrate their relationship daily. They have one daughter Jennifer who like her father is a writer in her own right. Bob is 7/16 Indian of Shawnee and Cherokee blood and is a member of The East of The River Shawnee Tribe. He embraces his native heritage and practices herbal medicine and energy healing as well as modern medicine and therapeutic touch, and he follows the medicine way and the way of right relationship.

Bob or Wolfman as he is known to his tribe and friends has always had a love of fantasy and science fiction stories as well as comics. He has and an affinity for the post apocalyptic genre, all things prehistoric and early Native American as well as for the superhero genre of comics.

Bob's deep love of comics, especially the Super Hero variety gave birth to The Centurions, a creation Bob has worked on for nearly 30 years and finally decided to bring them to life. The comic is a blend of old fashion style with today's grit rolled into one concept. Comics that are among Bob's favorites, and that you will find elements in his own creation are: The Legion Of Super Heroes, X-Men, Avengers and the Fantastic Four.

Other projects include "The First Medicine People" which was created out of the love of his people and their many legends as to how native peoples came to be on our continent. The project, merely in the concept stages, is told with a mix of tribal stories and good old fashion fantasy and science fiction. It is a look at an alternate answer to how mankind came to be on this planet. But with all theories aside, it is a richly woven story of magic and native medicine beliefs and mans struggle to survive on early earth after his journey from afar.

As for his published novel, the Messiah Chronicles was based of films the Bob adores! Films such as Planet of The Apes, The Omega Man, Ultimate Warrior, Virus, The Time Machine, The Road Warrior films, Damnation Alley and the newer Postman, Armageddon and Deep Impact are among his favorites. Bob found the current supply of such films and stories as barren as the wasteland they are set within. So he set out to write a series of novels he himself would love to read, and The Messiah Chronicles was born.

People often ask Bob what his beliefs are toward religion in which he readily states that he has a deep belief in “Creator,” "Kiji Manitou" or the “Great One,” and is a holy man and ordaned minister for his people. He will also quickly point out that he is NOT Christian but follows the Medicine Way. “Yes I am heathen, but my God is the same as yours, my path is just different. I also don’t need a savior to go to God, we talk all the time and he is always there for me!” Bob will also be the first to say that this works are not in anyway a view of religion or his native beliefs. His work is meant for enjoyment and any underling meaning one finds within them is something they actually find within themselves.
